Satyaloka

Journeys

– 22 February 2024

Satyaloka, originally from France, took sannyas in the 80’s and lived a few years at the Osho Humaniversity in Holland. He later moved to Goa where he remained many years and got married to Malu.

He was a very talented cartoonist and caricaturist, and was also a sought-after percussion and bass player.

He made the original drawings of the comic book, The Mystic Rose and the Magic of the Empty Chair (otoons.com and satyaloka.in/mystic-rose) published by Devakrishna Giollo. In the late 80’s, under Veeresh’s ‘supervision’, he drew the comic strip The Golden Words of the Beard, published in the Humaniversity’s Osho Freestate magazine (satyaloka.in/the-beard).

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and underwent chemo. We hear he died in Goa with his beloved wife holding his hand.

The musicians Hellmut and Ati, who both helped with this tribute, met him at the Humaniversity when Satyaloka was there as a student. Hellmut shares here below a bunch of caricatures Satyaloka did about him. More on Satyaloka’s website: satyaloka.in

From Veet Mamta:

I remember when I first met Satyaloka. It was in Paris, in the 80’s. He was very young and sweet. Latifa had come to the Pratip Center in Paris to ask for money to build the Ranch, and Satyaloka offered to donate the money he had just inherited from his family. I was very impressed by his generosity.

We became friends, then he left for the commune and we met only 30 years later through Facebook.

I was very much surprised to hear he was living in India, and after connecting, we met him in Goa in 2018. He introduced us to his Indian wife, Malu, and we visited his home several times.

Satyaloka was a juicy man and made such beautiful drawings and loved playing his guitar with a band. He used to send me sweet cartoons of myself for my birthdays. It was always a very delightful present.

These lasts years he suffered much and it seems a liberation for him to leave his tortured body.

All our love from both of us. So glad we could meet again – and also so sad we will not see you again.

Love,

Prem Vimalesh and Mamta

From the Humaniversity:

Satyaloka lived with us in the nineties. He was fully involved in the work of Veeresh and Osho, contributing with all of his creative talents, like making a comic strip called “The Beard” for the Osho Humaniversity Freestate magazine and playing music in the sound studio.

We remember him as a good friend with a great sense of humor.

Satyaloka, you live in our hearts forever.

Love,

The Humaniversity Family

From Vimalmati:

Such an amazing, wonderful, creative and intelligent friend. For years many friends received on their birthdays a cartoon.

We became friends at the Osho Humaniversity where he designed beautiful T-shirts and was part of the Pro team.

He lived in Amsterdam, London and at Osho Leela in Dorset before moving to India.

He was very happy with his wife Malu and their animals.

Rest in peace, dear brother.
