Conclusions

From Subhan's Desk

From Subhan’s desk; “We can say that something has ended, but it’s helpful to remember that this exists ONLY in the mind.”

Bear with me as I explore the word ‘conclusion’ that is often used in conversation in some form. And it certainly SEEMS to be a REAL part of our lives. But, like many words, it may create misunderstandings about what we’re talking about. It certainly LOOKS like things come to conclusions, right? You can conclude a mathematical problem. You can conclude any thought. You can end a relationship. THAT is how logic works. It comes to conclusions – to an end.

But, is this accurate? What is an END really?

It’s pretty clear that life and time as we know it is a continuum. When one second ends, another appears. So a “second” is only a verbal attempt to differentiate what is actually a continuum, something ongoing. When whatever is happening ‘finishes,’ it is much the same! We CREATE what we call an ending, but the life energy that is there continues to the next second, and the next one.

We can say that something has ended, but it’s helpful to remember that this exists ONLY in the mind. It is a delineation that may have practical value to the mind. But, it is only a narrow piece of the greater reality.

You can find this reality in relationships. And ask yourself, “Do they ever REALLY end?” If the mystics are right, there is no end to relationships because there is a oneness that presides over everything. So, although on the circumference it LOOKS like separation has happened, in the center of reality, all is always interconnected!

The mystics say many things that can boggle the mind because the mind has a very limited, myopic view of existence. They say that you can’t conclude ‘life!’ That it is ongoing, so no real conclusion can EVER be found! The mystics say that even death is not a conclusion – that in the reality beyond the mind, there is no beginning and no end to the ongoing ‘life force’ that forms an alive existence!

Even if you don’t have this experience and understanding, you still can understand in THIS life, that each moment unfolds into a new “this” moment. So it becomes clear that there is no terminal, no brick wall, no ending, no conclusion to this life – at least as long as we are alive – if not longer!

And, every time we come to a brick wall, even with the words “the end” scrawled on it, there will always be something behind/beyond it!

How many times have we thought that something was ‘over,’ only to find that it wasn’t so?! And, the deeper I have explored, the deeper the realization of this continuum.

This is a marvelous insight! It can give a rich understanding that anytime I “come to a conclusion” about anything, including my or other people’s lives, I’ve missed the reality of ever-present change, and that there is NO real conclusion possible! All I can say is that in THIS moment, the MIND has concluded something… and when possible, realize how small and how myopic that is! Whatever it is, is BOUND to change!

With this understanding, everything becomes an endless mystery. And the only way THIS can be changed is through the logic and limitations of the mind that CANNOT comprehend or recognize a life in which there are no conclusions!

It’s certainly something worth exploring!!
