untameable memory,
as irretrievable as death,
as resolute as dawn

now dull and porous,
now flickering,
content and discontent,
revealing and irrelevant

in the night sky
a million light year old meteor
is disappearing
to a timeless fate

in its wake
the earth draws breath

in its wake
a harbinger of peace
