Aneesha’s review of Madhuri’s latest book; “My commentary barely scratches the surface of what is contained in this book. One thing is for sure, there is something for everyone within this vast collection of techniques and practices.”

Right from the Introduction and the first chapter, I felt excited to travel on this Meditation Journey that Madhuri has created. She’s brought so many alive and touching techniques together, and arranged them in such a fashion, that by reading her book we are carried both gently and powerfully through many dimensions of our Interiority, in a light, clear, and loving way.
It is apparent that Madhuri absolutely knows the territory she takes us through. She has experienced the practices, both personally and as a teacher, over many years. Her tips and hints along the way are very helpful. Each technique is introduced with clear instructions on how to guide it, and might be either for a group, an individual, or for oneself as an inner journey. Her lively drawings grace the pages and clarify the instructions.
This collection begins with meditations for the Heart Center, which is always a good place to start when working with people on any aspect of their inner-focused journey. All of these Heart meditations prepare the ground for entering inside, into sensing, feeling, and inner experiences of all kinds.
Every meditation or exercise contains a list of supplies needed (like pillows, blanket, Kleenexes, a timer, etc.), and a recommended duration. In her commentary on a given technique Madhuri sometimes writes about what she herself experienced, which indicates something of what we might expect. This gave me a feeling of safety, especially with the ones that are particularly intense.
As the book progressed I was amazed at the extensive variety of techniques that are featured here. Some are simple and quiet, using fine-tuned awareness, touch, and gentle breathing, as in some of the Heart Meditations. Others provide intense work with expressive movements, deeper breathing and emotional release, as in the chapter on Healing, Clearing, Reinvigorating. Couples will find many ways to dig deep into their relationship, learning together using Tantric energy meditations, as well as more psychologically/emotionally-oriented explorations.
Some techniques can be practiced alone, and many of them have us relating with a partner, for mutual support, sharing and reflecting. Some involve a whole group in a big collective experiment, some use painting or writing, and some take place outdoors in nature. Some use visualization, the Chakras, Dreams, Past Lives, Spirit Guides… and so much more.

There are several meditations in the chapter “Healing, Clearing, Reinvigorating” that move tremendous energies through the body. As a neo-Reichian therapist, I very much appreciate Madhuri’s emphasis on embodiment in these techniques. With Osho we all learned the importance of feeling alive and rooted in the physical body.
Many of these techniques were conceived and developed in the light of Osho’s vision. Some were created in the Multiversity’s Mystery School, which Madhuri was a part of for many years. Wadud and Waduda, the lead therapists in the Mystery School, brought forth a number of really beautiful and effective meditations and group processes. Many are featured here.
Some of the ‘traditional’ human potential techniques like Gestalt and Voice Dialogue are used in new and creative ways through meditations that help us to connect deeply with parts of the body, dialoguing with physical pains, diseases, or different parts of our own personality. There are a number of techniques and processes that can be considered therapeutic, and healing for the body and the mind.
My commentary here barely scratches the surface of what is contained in Madhuri’s book, Techniques I Have Loved. One thing is for sure, there is something for everyone within this vast collection of techniques and practices. There are meditations for the beginning of the journey, followed by a smorgasbord of methods that can help you explore your own interiority – deepening your presence, your appreciation of self and others, and your sense of being part of ‘all that is’.
