Swami Vee, who was commissioned by Oshodham in New Delhi to evaluate the long-term impact of Mystic Rose, shares his findings

The inspiration for this study came from what I read in Leela’s book, Osho’s Mystic Rose Meditative Therapy. There she writes that Osho wanted research done on the therapy. This questionnaire-based study is now a small step in that direction.
We often meet people who have done the Mystic Rose and we hear them say how deep it had been for them, how much it had transformed their lives. We also see many of them returning to repeat the therapy. We wanted to find out if this is truly the case for everyone. What exactly do they experience when they participate in the therapy, and what do they mean when they say life has changed for them? How is it impacting those who repeat the therapy?
We used a simple, questionnaire-based approach and invited former participants to be part of the study.
The two core questions (with choices covering different aspects) were: 1) how they felt immediately after completing the Mystic Rose, and 2) how much of that experience stayed with them and integrated into their daily lives long after the therapy had ended.
The questionnaire was shared with a broad group of people, some who had completed the therapy only recently and others who had gone through it years ago. This gave us a wide spectrum. For some the comments were fresh when they filled in their responses, and for others the long-term impact was more time-tested and grounded.
Summary
This report analyses the experiences of 97 participants who completed the 21-day Osho Mystic Rose Therapy. The data confirms that the therapy is a highly effective tool for emotional unburdening, demonstrating a remarkably high retention of positive, long-lasting benefits across all demographics.
The Compounding Effect: The benefits of the therapy increase significantly with repetition. Immediate post-therapy “feeling light, alive, and good in the body” jump from 50% for one-time attendees to 73% for returning participants.
Resilience vs Depth: One-time attendees primarily gained resilience in day-to-day life, with 65% reporting being better equipped to handle life challenges. The focus of returning participants shifted more inwards, with 71% reporting that they were able to go deeper in meditation and found it easier to come back to themselves and become centred.
High Long-Term Retention: The positive impacts are felt long-term. Only two individuals in the one-time attendance group and two in the multiple-attendance group (roughly 4% of each group) reported that they felt no long-term changes or that the effects had faded over time.
Demographics: 54% of the participants had attended the process once, 46% multiple times. 31% had taken part recently (6 to 12 months ago), 21% between one and two years ago, and 48% over two years ago. The majority of the participants (56%) were between 36 and 55 years old. While 76% of the participants were based locally in India and Nepal, the rest came from Germany, USA, Russia, and Australia.
Comments by Participants
I participated in the Mystic Rose Therapy at a turning point in my life, professionally as well as privately. One major impact that I could see directly after the group was that I was able to stand back and reflect on my situation, rather than react compulsively, even during times when I felt strong emotions, such as fear or frustration. As a result, I feel I was able to take better decisions which are more aligned with my being.
During Mystic Rose, I faced and released a lot of inner issues I had been carrying for years. It felt as if heavy layers were melting away, leaving me lighter and freer. I connected with parts of myself I never knew existed, places of strength, joy, and quiet confidence. That connection has stayed with me, and even in my business today, I feel a new ease in being myself without pretence. I can speak, act, and make decisions with clarity and authenticity. This has been one of the most valuable gifts this journey has given me.
There was a fundamental shift in the way I accepted my belly laughter.
My sleep has improved significantly. My LDL cholesterol dropped from 4.9 to 2.8 mmol/L. I stopped drinking wine. My meditation – silent sitting – has deepened greatly. During sitting, the body sometimes moves spontaneously, releasing stored tensions, and I enter into altered states of consciousness.
I worry less about little problems. I started travelling more, which I always wanted to do. I’m trying out more things now, things I avoided before.
