I first heard this song in a shamanic ceremony led by Darpan in 2000 and eventually discovered it was written and performed by the legendary all-women group Sweet Honey in the Rock. The song made such an impression that I have consistently shared it since then, to the point of often starting and ending a music event with it and offer the opportunity for people to sing the lyrics to each other.
The song is a beautiful opportunity to express gratitude for all the generations, especially the children, and particularly to do this through the medium of a song with deep words and a beautiful melody.
Needless to say, I have reached the point where the song has become my own, which is particularly heightened by the use of the kora (African harp) as the lead instrument in the recording, along with some excellent musicians and singers.
The video was made by Phil Smith and filmed on the legendary Tor, an ancient monument and one of the most well-known landmarks here in Glastonbury and in the UK. Finally, many thanks to Sudha for her presence in the video and on the recording.

Ravi took sannyas at Kalptaru, London in 1981. He lived at Medina where he recorded Satsang Music and in 1989 he became part of the band ‘Ah This’ (together with Miten) with which he toured Europe for a year. He lived for a while at the Amsterdam Centre and later moved to Munich and then to Tuscany near Osho Miasto.
