A poem from Robert Dhiraj’s poetry book, The Cymbal Clash of Sky
the bones of the masters protect
the cave on the copper-coloured mountain,
the lineages are unbreakable,
the karma fully-formed, perfect
‘kam sher lamkuer’,
whatever arises, carry it to the path,
‘kam sher lamkyer’,
bring it to the table,
all is embraced, all history is there,
the future too, no experience is pre-empted,
forgotten or in vain
this blessed body,
still here,
an unambiguous, unique radiance
before dawn after heavy night rain,
waiting alone in a dark, dank bus in Amdo,
large buckets catch drips the size of pearls,
outside,
the restless bus driver is coughing up
his harrowed lungs
I see it, the golden dharma,
the inexplicable forgiveness of countless lifetimes
